From The Bride:
Daniel and I met on June 5, 2011 at a little thing called the Manayunk Bike Race. If anyone has had the pleasure of attending this classy event, you know what it’s all about. If not, I’ll sum it up for you: day drinking. And maybe if you’re paying attention, you’ll see some people on bikes.
I had never been to the bike race before, but woke up early that morning and took the train into the city with my cousin, Jackie. We met up with some friends and started our celebrations with mimosas at a house party in Manayunk. Eventually, we made our way to a bar called Mad River where we ran into some people that we knew.
There was one handsome guy who caught my eye in the group. Before I knew it, he was making his way over to talk to me!! Right at that very second, I dropped my phone in a puddle of what I think was beer. He walked over and said “Hi” (I think, it’s really a blur) and my response was “HELP! I just dropped my phone in this puddle and now the screen is black and I don’t know what to do!!” Daniel worked some magic on my phone. (He probably just restarted it calmly which I was incapable of doing). We started talking and found out we grew up in the same neighborhood. Then, we ate pizza. And that is our romantic story, of love at first sight at the Manayunk Bike Race. (We’ve never been back to the bike race since.)
We had a great time planning our wedding. We kept things very simple and really just focused on what the day is really about. Music was a huge part of our day. We did not have a traditional bridal party. We focused on surrounding ourselves with the most important, special people in our lives that day. It was completely perfect in every way and we’ll cherish it forever.
