From The Bride:
We met on match.com and talked for weeks before our first date November 4, 2008.
I was afraid and nervous and so ready to give up on love but I will never forget the moment when we said goodbye for the night. He walked me to my car and gave me a hug. As I was opening my door I looked back at him and he looked back at me and we both smiled. Like… straight out of every Rom Com I’ve ever watched. That little tiny moment still to this day gives me butterflies because it was then I knew that this man was a keeper.
From then were were off an on for a few years and no matter how much we drove each other nuts we always came back to each other. He had moved back to his home state of Minnesota within those years while I stayed in Florida. I had plans to go to a wedding in San Francisco and had the week off but ended up not being able to afford the trip. He found out I wasn’t going so he flew me up Minnesota. That was July 4th weekend 2011. I packed up my life and moved up August 10, 2011. It was what we needed, no more messing around and off and ons. I knew I loved him, I knew I needed him, I knew I wanted him and he felt the same.
Fast forward to July of 2012 I was ready for the next step but he wasn’t there yet but knew he wanted kids. I basically said “I’m not having with my boyfriend soooo…..”. He still worked out of town and flew home on the weekends so I’m assuming while away he did a lot of thinking”
August 2012 we booked a trip to Vegas for our 4 year anniversary because I had never been. The day after booking he called me on his break and said the words “we should get married while we are there”. I instantly said “shut up”. But he persisted and then had to rush off to a meeting. We continued to then text about it. Yes, text. Text about getting married…what? He said the words “we will fly out parents in” and then I knew it was for real and started crying.
I tell him 2 things…. 1. I can’t get married without my mom, dad and sister and 2. We could no longer talk about this until he called my father. He does, they call me excited and we then tell his parents.
77 days from then we got married. Seventy-seven days… Yep less than 3 months. I thought we were nuts and that I would be marrying the man of my dreams in a cheesy Vegas Chapel with Elvis. Thanks to Clayton our dear friend and photographer, I found our venue and fell in love with it. I had everything booked and ready within 3 weeks and the rest is history.
We are now celebrating 4 years married and 8 years together with 2 kids and 3 dogs in San Antonio, TX.
Life is good
