From The Bride:

In late April, early May of 2012, right before I left for my year long adventure in Rwanda, my high school sweetheart friends (and Vince’s college roommate) came by to say goodbye. That’s the first time I heard of Vince – described as “Africa obsessed” himself – it was suggested we should talk. (Turns out our friend had been “suggesting” Vince talk to me for awhile.) He lived in Florida; I lived in Maryland, and was about to go on a yearlong adventure so, I didn’t think much of it. Then one night in August I got a Facebook message from none other than the Africa loving boy. He introduced himself, talked about how he wanted to do missions work in Africa, and then asked me a couple of questions about what it was I was doing and how I got involved in it. As Vince and I continued talking over the course of several months I began to learn more about him, his personality, and his values. One specific night he messaged me and started talking about how his long-term goal was to become a mission’s pilot. That was it. I messaged my mom, sister, and best friend and told them I had just met my future husband. Kidding of course, but kind of not. This is also around the time that I started referring to Vince as my “fake boyfriend” to my Rwandan roommates. Vince and I continued to send sporadic Facebook messages until July 5th 2013 when we finally met in person at none other than our mutual friends/matchmakers wedding. The next day we went on our first date and then we didn’t see each other again until December when Vince started TBS in Quantico. After that as they say – the rest is history.

Vince and I had decided early on that we only wanted immediate family in attendance. Having a wedding in a cabin on a mountain was always a dream of mine, so when Vince agreed I couldn’t have been more excited to find the perfect place. I knew the second I saw Rubywood that’s where we would become one. It took us a week to find and book Rubywood and less then three months to plan everything else. It was a short engagement, causing a few decisions to be rushed, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
