Love Story

From The Groom:

MORGAN AND I WERE FIRST INTRODUCED TO ONE ANOTHER EARLY ON IN OUR COLLEGE CAREERS; HOWEVER, ASIDE FROM A CLASS OR TWO TOGETHER AND A COUPLE OF MUTUAL FRIENDS, WE HAD VERY LITTLE INTERACTION. IT WAS NOT UNTIL AUGUST 22, 2014, THE FIRST WEEKEND OF OUR SENIOR YEAR AT CEDARVILLE, THAT WE HAD THE WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO HANG OUT. WE SPENT THE FIRST PART OF THAT SPECIAL FRIDAY NIGHT REPRESENTING OUR RESPECTIVE ORG’S AT THE ANNUAL CU INVOLVEMENT FAIR; FOLLOWING THE INVOLVEMENT FAIR I HAD NO PLANS UNTIL ONE OF MY GOOD FRIENDS, JOSH PETREL, INVITED ME TO COME OVER AND HANG OUT WITH SOME FRIENDS AT HIS GIRLFRIEND, APRIL LAMONTE’S, APARTMENT. LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT MORGAN AND APRIL WERE ROOMMATES. WE ALL GATHERED AT THE GIRLS APARTMENT AND PLAYED A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT GAMES; THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT BEING “SILENT FOOTBALL.” IT WAS A REALLY FUN NIGHT FULL OF LOTS OF GREAT LAUGHS. THE NEXT DAY MORGAN ADDED ME ON SNAPCHAT AND TWEETED ABOUT WHAT A GREAT NIGHT SHE HAD HAD.

I LIKE TO THINK IT WAS THE BEST GAME NIGHT EVER BECAUSE MORGAN KNEW AT THAT MOMENT THAT I WAS THE GUY THAT SHE WAS GOING TO MARRY ME AND WAS ALREADY HEAD OVER HEALS, BUT I THINK SHE ACTUALLY JUST HAD A REALLY FUN NIGHT. WITH MORGAN AND I BOTH BEING OFF CAMPUS AND IN THE SENIOR YEAR OF OUR MAJOR’S OUR PATHS NEVER CROSSED ON CAMPUS. THEREFORE, WE HAD NO INTERACTION IN THE WEEKS FOLLOWING THAT GREAT GAME NIGHT. THAT IS, UNTIL LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2014. FOR WHATEVER REASON, ON SATURDAY OF LABOR DAY WEEKEND, MORGAN AND I BEGAN SNAPCHATTING. QUICKLY, A COUPLE OF SNAPCHATS BACK AND FORTH LED TO MOST OF THE NIGHT SPENT MESSAGING VIA THE APP. THIS WAS VERY LAME, BUT I WAS NOT ABOUT TO ASK FOR HER NUMBER IN A SNAPCHAT. THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THAT MESSAGING WE MADE PLANS TO PLAY EUCHRE WITH JOSH AND APRIL MONDAY NIGHT. THE PLANS CAME THROUGH AND WE PLAYED EUCHRE ON LABOR DAY NIGHT. I FINALLY GOT MORGAN’S NUMBER AND I WAS OFFICIALLY IN BUSINESS! I VIRTUALLY SPENT EVERY SPARE MOMENT OF THAT WEEK TEXTING MORGAN AND WHEN WE WEREN’T TEXTING I WAS THINKING ABOUT HER; IT IS SAFE TO SAY THAT I WAS CRUSHING. MORGAN AND I HAD OUR FIRST DATE ON SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2014. I TOOK HER TO YOUNG’S JERSEY DAIRY, WHERE WE WENT PUTT PUTTING (I WON AND AM CURRENTLY STILL UNDEFEATED IN OUR RELATIONSHIP) AND HAD ICE CREAM. WE ATE OUR ICE CREAM AND TALKED AT ONE OF THE OUTSIDE PICNIC TABLES AND BEFORE WE KNEW IT TWO HOURS HAD GONE BY. I HAD TO END THE NIGHT BECAUSE I HAD TO GET HOME FOR A MEETING, BUT THERE WAS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT I WANTED ANOTHER DATE WITH THIS WONDERFUL GIRL. IT WAS AN AMAZING FIRST DATE AND IT WAS AMAZING HOW EASY CONVERSATION CAME FOR THE TWO OF US. THIS IS THE START OF WHAT WAS AN INCREDIBLE SENIOR YEAR AT CEDARVILLE TOGETHER. WE HAD A FEW MORE DATES AND THEN BEGAN HANGING OUT ALMOST EVERY DAY.

MORGAN AND I’S FIRST PICTURE TOGETHER. TAKEN SHORTLY BEFORE OUR SECOND DATE 9/12/14.
FALLING IN LOVE
AS I MENTIONED ABOVE, AFTER A COUPLE OF DATES, MORGAN AND I BEGAN TO HANG OUT ALMOST EVERYDAY. WE SHARED MANY FUN MEMORIES AND DATES THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE FALL SEMESTER. A FEW OF THESE DATES INCLUDE MORGAN’S BIRTHDAY DATE, SEEING HUNGER GAMES III PART I, AND THE DOE SNOWFLAKE BALL. HOWEVER, AT LEAST IN MY OPINION, IT WAS NOT UNTIL CHRISTMAS BREAK THAT I BEGAN TO REALIZE HOW MUCH I REALLY CARED FOR MORGAN AND ENJOYED EVERY MOMENT SPENT WITH HER. IT WAS AT THIS TIME THAT OUR RELATIONSHIP TOOK A STEP AT BECOMING MORE SERIOUS. THIS WAS A TIME WHEN WE WERE ABLE TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME WITH ONE ANOTHER, REALLY GET TO KNOW EACH OTHERS FAMILIES, AND SHARE A LOT OF MEMORIES THAT MADE THIS ONE OF THE MOST SPECIAL CHRISTMASES IN MY LIFE.

ABOVE IS A PICTURE OF MORGAN AND I AT MY HOUSE OVER CHRISTMAS BREAK FOR THE SUGAR BOWL, IN WHICH OHIO STATE DEFEATED ALABAMA EN ROUTE TO A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON! I WAS EXCITED TO BE BACK AT SCHOOL IN EARLY JANUARY BECAUSE IT MEANT I WAS ABLE TO SEE MORGAN AGAIN EVERYDAY; BREAK WAS GREAT, BUT BEING AN HOUR APART AND WITH A MINNESOTA TRIP WE WERE STILL LIMITED IN THE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT WE WERE ABLE TO SPEND TOGETHER. I RETURNED TO SCHOOL THAT SEMESTER AND IT FELT LIKE MORGAN AND I’S RELATIONSHIP HAD TAKEN A BIG STEP. I THOUGHT ABOUT HER MORE, CARED ABOUT HER MORE, AND DESIRED TO BE WITH HER MORE THAN I EVER HAD EVEN IN THE PREVIOUS SEMESTER. THESE FEELINGS FOR MORGAN CONTINUED TO INCREASE THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE SPRING SEMESTER. IN 2015, VALENTINES DAY FELL ON A SATURDAY AND MORGAN AND I DECIDED TO GO TO MY HOUSE FOR THE WEEKEND. WE HAD BIG PLANS FOR A SPECIAL VALENTINES DATE, BUT A SNOWSTORM CAME THROUGH TOWN AND WE WERE SNOWED IN AND WE ENDED UP WATCHING NETFLIX ALL DAY WITH MY MOM AND SISTER. IT WAS NOT WHAT WE HAD PLANNED, BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE PERFECT VALENTINES DAY. THAT NIGHT, I TOLD MORGAN THAT I LOVED HER FOR THE FIRST TIME.

MORGAN AND I ON VALENTINES DAY, 2015. THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE YEAR MORGAN AND I CONTINUED TO FALL IN LOVE. I COULD WRITE FOR PAGES ABOUT THE AMAZING TIMES THAT WE SHARED BETWEEN THE FIRST I LOVE YOU AND OUR ENGAGEMENT, BUT THAT WOULD BE A LITTLE OVER THE TOP; HOWEVER, I WILL SHARE A FEW HIGHLIGHTS. MORGAN AND HER MOM GOING DOWN TO FLORIDA TO WATCH CEDARVILLE BASEBALL (WHEN MY PARENTS REALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH MORGAN), FINISHING COLLEGE TOGETHER, TRIP TO MEET MY MINNESOTA FAMILY, 4TH OF JULY AT LAKE ERIE, INDIANS GAMES, AND SEEING WICKED.

ENGAGEMENT
AFTER GRADUATION, MORGAN AND I BEGAN THE MOST FUN SUMMER OF BOTH OF OUR LIVES. WE WENT TO SEVERAL WEDDINGS, A FEW INDIANS GAMES, TOOK A TRIP TO MINNESOTA, SPENT HOURS AT THE POOL, A WEEK AT LAKE ERIE, DECORATED MORGAN’S CLASSROOM, AND JUST FELT MORE AND MORE IN LOVE EVERYDAY WE WERE ABLE TO SPEND TOGETHER. HOWEVER, THIS FUN HAD TO END BECAUSE ON JULY 12TH I MOVED DOWN TO CINCINNATI TO START MY JOB WITH CINCINNATI FINANCIAL CORPORATION. I KNEW A LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP WAS GOING TO BE HARD, BUT I TOTALLY UNDERESTIMATED HOW HARD IT WOULD ACTUALLY BE. MORGAN AND I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE WEEKENDS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO SPEND TOGETHER, BUT THAT TIME WENT FAST AND IT WAS HARD BEING AWAY. YOU COULD DEFINITELY SAY THAT THAT FAMOUS PHRASE “DISTANCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER” WAS RINGING TRUE FOR MORGAN AND I. AS A RESULT, AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF DATING LONG DISTANCE I BEGAN TO THINK ABOUT MARRIAGE. I BEGAN PRAYING VERY INTENTIONALLY ABOUT MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MORGAN, READ “THE SACRED SEARCH” BY GARY THOMAS, AND SOUGHT THE ADVICE OF THE COUPLE I RESPECT MOST IN MY LIFE, MY PARENTS. AFTER GOING THROUGH THIS PROCESS OF SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING MARRIAGE, ALL OF THESE MEASURES REASSURED MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MORGAN AND MY DESIRES TO MARRY HER. ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH, I ASKED MORGAN’S PARENTS FOR THEIR PERMISSION TO MARRY HER. AFTER RECEIVING THEIR BLESSING, ENGAGEMENT PLANNING BEGAN AND ON OCTOBER 24TH, IN THE ENGLISH GARDEN OF STAN HYWET HALL, MORGAN LYNAE PETERSON SAID YES TO SPENDING THE REST OF HER LIFE WITH ME.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING DAYS IN BOTH OF OUR LIVES AND WE LEFT THE GARDENS TO CELEBRATE THE REST OF THE NIGHT WITH PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE BEEN WORKING TOWARDS PLANNING OUR SPECIAL DAY. WE CAN NOT WAIT FOR JUNE 26TH, 2016 AND WE CANNOT WAIT TO SPEND THE REST OF OUR LIVES TOGETHER!
