From The Bride:

I couldn’t stop thinking about Jeff before he even knew who I was. We had mutual friends and ended up at the same place one night and a friend of his was saying the nicest things about him that left an imprint on my mind. I can’t even remember if I even saw him that night, but it was his heart that caught my attention. After about a month, we were finally formally introduced and went on our first date a few days later. I truly never believed in love at first site, but looking back now I knew in my heart I could never live my life without Jeff. There was just something about him I had never known before.

Our relationship moved really slow, as in we didn’t talk on the phone for over a year kind of slow. We texted every day and saw each other a couple of times a week, but truthfully it moved at the exact pace we needed it too. Jeff had moved to Pittsburgh for work and knew it wasn’t the place for him, so in the back of his mind he knew he was going to move one day. A year and a half into our relationship, that heartbreaking but monumental day came. There was a better opportunity for him in Dallas and I could never stand in the way of his dreams, so he packed up his life and drove over a thousand miles away. There was never a question in either of our minds to not try to make our relationship work. We tried long distance for a year and a half and as painful as it was at times, I would do it a million times over if it meant we would end up here. I will never forget the feeling of seeing Jeff’s face and getting that first hug every time he would pick me up at the airport after not seeing each other for a month. A year and a half later, I too made the move to Texas. Once Jeff left Pittsburgh I never questioned following him, because it never mattered where I was but only who I was with. And finally after six months of in Texas, Jeff proposed to me in our apartment, which I loved because after being a part for so long, it was my favorite place in the world and we had already made so many special memories there.

Minutes after getting engaged we knew we wanted to get married at “the lake”. Jeff’s family has a lake house on Table Rock Lake in Missouri and it is the most gorgeous and unexpected place. It is Jeff’s favorite place and after two years of dating he brought me there to spend 4th of July with his family (his favorite holiday) and I instantly fell in love. With family and friends all over the place it was the perfect place to bring all of our loved ones together. We only did one venue visit because after seeing Big Cedar’s Top of the Rock we were sold!

We had a year and a half long engagement which was perfect due to the fact that our destination was six hours away, so things never felt stressful. We both truly enjoyed the whole process (I still miss the planning!! throwing away my huge stack of wedding magazines was so sad) and are still so thankful for everything our wedding planner, Mary Douglas, did for us.
