From The Bride:

October 11, 2010 is the day I walked in for an interview at Ruth’s Chris. I was shown into a room by a host and was immediately greeted by a guy with dark hair, green eyes, a firm handshake and a friendly, “Welcome, I’m Chris.” I was surprised I could say anything back (he was so babely), but somehow I squeaked out a, “….Nice to meet you..I’m Anita.” Which quickly followed with a nervous glance back to the floor, as I was sure he thought I was weird for staring too hard. Aside from him being my eye candy for the next year, nothing happened between us, as we were both in other relationships. Fast forward to a year later, he was managing for another employer and happened to be the plus one of a mutual friend for Ruth’s Chris annual Christmas party. He then approached the taco eating machine that is moi and the rest is history.
We are avid Bachelor watchers and since day one he was aware of my love (and obsession) for elephants. As we watched the season of Sean and Catherine, they rode into the sunset in Thailand on an elephant and I weeped like a baby. He tells me that this was when he decided his proposal would involve an elephant.
In his words: I had her ring ready much sooner than the proposal, but my jeweler/old highschool girlfriend had a shop in New Jersey (where I’m from) and she recommended she hold onto the ring until absolutely ready. She said men begin to act weird and feel trigger happy once they have it in their possession and never follow through with their initial plans, so I agreed. For six months I tried so many ways to find an elephant to get Anita to. It seemed near impossible until my assistant mentioned the Del Mar Fair and that there would be elephants. But the fair was in two days and I didn’t have the ring yet. So I had to FedEx it over night. I kept refreshing the tracking so, I got no sleep. I had to make up an excuse before we left for the fair that I had to mail a package from the main hub to a hotel guest but really, I was there to pick up the ring. Luckily Anita never asked any questions. We get to the fair and get lost…. I can’t find the elephants until we finally approached them. Anita begins to bawl with joy and I knew I had done the right thing. I had my photographer sneak into the fair before it opened so he could shoot the entire thing in action and the staff for the elephants all knew what was coming. It was all worth it.
